Hampton Inn and Suites - University of MissouriSite:

The meeting will be held at the University Hampton Inn and Suites, a brand new facility located along the southern border of the University of Missouri campus: Scientific sessions will be held in a large lecture room with an open venue for posters and attractive quiet areas for informal discussion and casual meals.

Registration:

The fee for registration will be $250.00 ($300 after July 30, 2009) and includes participation in all scientific sessions, exhibits, welcoming reception, awards banquet, lunches and breaks, along with a meeting program and notebook. The Inn provides high speed Internet access, and 2 business centers open 24/7 for computer, printing and facsimile services.

Lodging:

Room reservations at the University Hampton Inn and Suites are now available online or by calling 573-214-2222 (be sure to use code MCC). As less than 100 rooms will be available, attendees may consider sharing with a roommate to accommodate all who wish to stay on site. Additional lodging is within a 5-minute drive from the meeting venue and will be posted if necessary.

Meals:

Complimentary hot breakfast is provided for guests staying at the Inn; otherwise, breakfast is on your own. Lunches will be catered deli-style on site, along with mid-morning and mid-afternoon coffee breaks.

Le Bourgeois WineryThe Awards Banquet on Friday night will be held at
Le Bourgeois Restaurant, a 20-minute bus ride from the meeting venue. The restaurant and its vineyard are situated on a bluff overlooking the Missouri river.

Saturday night dinner will be ‘on your own’ to experience Columbia night life. The active college-town entertainment and restaurant District (see link under "Venue") are a 15-minute walk from the meeting venue. Shuttle service will be arranged in case of inclement weather or personal need/preference.

Travel:

Please make your own travel arrangements to arrive on October 15th and depart on October 18th. The Columbia Regional Airport (COU) has 3 flights per day (http://www.flymidmo.com/flightschedule.html) that connect through Memphis (MEM). Flights into and out of Columbia can be affected by weather more than the larger international airports in Saint Louis (STL) or Kansas City (MCI) but these require a rental car or Mo-X shuttle (https://www.moexpress.com/tac/default.aspx) (~-2 hour drive; ~$90 round-trip) to reach Columbia. The shuttle will take you directly to the Inn if you request this when you make your reservation. Since Northwest Airlines took over the flight routes to COU, the local flights have been much more consistent than recent years. It is a 10-15 minute taxi ride from COU to the Inn. For return flights, time your departure from the Inn to arrive at the airport at least an hour before your flight.

Travel Awards:

At least 10 travel awards ($500 each) will be available to students and postdoctoral trainees who are first authors on submitted abstracts. Letters of support will be required from respective mentors.

Publication:

A booklet containing the meeting agenda, abstracts, and a list of attendees (including contact information) will be distributed at the meeting. The abstracts will be published in Microcirculation, the official journal of the Microcirculatory Society, Inc. Keynote speakers will prepare state-of-the-art reviews focused on “Frontiers in Microcirculation” for publication in a Special Topics Issue of Microcirculation to appear in January, 2010. Through embracing research that spans biological processes at cellular, molecular and systems levels in the context of engineering, mathematical modeling and (patho)physiology, this Special Topics Issue will promote microcirculation as a cross-disciplinary field that unifies a wealth of scientific expertise with application to patient care and disease prevention.
