Welcome to the
Broader Impacts Infrastructure Summit!
Dr. Wanda E. Ward, Director of the Office of International and Integrative Activities for NSF was our keynote speaker.
NSF Enabling the STEM Enterprise for Empowering the Nation
As a resultof the emphasis placed on broader impacts by the United States Congress, the National Science Board (NSB), and the National Science Foundation (NSF); a community of practice had emerged to provide support and resources for researchers submitting proposals to the NSF and other funding agencies. This community came together for the Broader Impacts Infrastructure Summit, held at the University of Missouri in Columbia April 24-26, 2013; to share ideas, discuss successes and challenges, and to plot the future of the community. The Summit was sponsored by a grant from Mizzou Advantage, a University of Missouri program, which fosters interdisciplinary collaborations and partnerships.
The Summit had three goals:
- Bring broader impacts infrastructure professionals together to share best practices, ideas, and challenges
- Set the course for the future of broader impacts infrastructure support
- Provide the NSF with feedback regarding the realities of supporting broader impacts at the institutional and principal investigator levels.
