Council Relations
We will explore the resources that are available to you as the CPD as well as to the County Extension Council in creating best practices for working with county councils and the roles and responsibilities (set out by state law) that support the partnership. Relationship building is a critical part of any organization. There are resources that can assist councils in understanding their role and can be adjusted to any management style you or your council have adopted. Local Governance of the County Extension Council is as different as people themselves. So this session is an effort to aid you in improving the council level of engagement, broadening council members' knowledge and providing local leadership for program support. This is a great session to attend to learn about resources and have dialogue with other County Program Directors.
Presenters: David Hill, Community Development Specialist & CPD, Marion County
Tony DeLong, County Council Coordinator

Involving Youth in Your County Extension Council
We will explore the resources that are available to you as the CPD as well as to the County Extension Council as we take time to engage youth with our County Extension Councils. The young people are our future. Our investment of time to engage them in what we do and empower them as young leaders will return to us, today, with their youthful ideas, and in the future when many of these young people come back to serve extension in their adult life. This presentation will showcase some of the resources that are available, engage the participants in some of the council activities and share successes and failures in engaging youth with county extension councils.
Presenters: Steve Henness, Extension Associate, 4-H Center for Youth Development
Nancy Mense, 4-H Youth Development Specialist & Co-CPD, Clay County
Bud Reber, East Central Regional Director
