Optional Pre-Conference Workshops

Classroom Makeover
All pre-conference workshops will focus on using technology to engage students in the creation of digital objects that improve learning. Applications and product creation learned in this workshop can be used as presentation tools, but the emphasis will be on using technology to stimulate student creativity and production. Attendees who do not have their own Mac laptops will be loaned one to use during the workshops for hands-on experience with each of the topics presented. (Enrollment is limited; register early!)
Track 1: Getting Students' Attention: Visual Storytelling 101
Learn to easily create slide shows and movies that can be integrated into presentations and projects. Some applications that will be explored include iPhoto, iMovie, Audacity, GarageBand and Keynote/Powerpoint.
Track 2 Extending the Classroom: Breaking Through Classroom Walls 201
Break through the restraints of physical meeting space and bring the world into the classroom by video conferencing with experts in your field, then making that content available for students to review 24/7 via enhanced podcast or vodcast. Applications that will be explored include iChat, GarageBand, iTunesU and the features of .mac accounts
