Winter Institute Session II

Compliance with DOT Regulations: Training, Testing, and Certification

Description:

The last day and a half of the Winter Institute is dedicated to hazardous materials training in compliance with the DOT training requirement for hazmat employees. This is a separate course developed by Dale L. Brown, and provided with the Introduction to Hazardous Waste Management course developed by Russell S. Hanson. Dale provides regulatory overviews together with specific discussions of the DOT regulations applicable to hazardous materials. General awareness and familiarization with the regulations is emphasized. Security awareness and security plans are also addressed. The course concludes with an exam for certification. While the attendees are allowed to use their course materials during the exam, no collaboration with other attendees is allowed. Dale grades each exam with the attendee in order to discuss the results and provide specific training as necessary to reinforce the proper application of the DOT regulations. Attendees who satisfy Dale's requirements will receive a certificate of training and testing in compliance with the DOT training regulations.

Approximately 14 hours.
