J-Day registration desk opens at 8 am until 8:45 am in Jesse Hall Auditorium lobby.  The opening, welcomes, introductions, and keynote speaker will start around 8:45 am until 9:45 am.  At that time, the students will be dismissed to the different breakout sessions which will be in classroom buildings close to Jesse Hall on campus. The breakout sessions are from 10 am to 11:30 am - this time frame is broken into two 40 minute sessions - 10 am - 10:40 am and 10:50 am - 11:30 am.  Lunch is on your own.  Everyone reconvenes at Jesse Hall Auditorium at 1:00 pm for the awards presentation.  The day is dismissed around 2:30 pm.

Breakout Session Information:
There are 11 breakout sessions offered on Wednesday morning. Of the 11 sessions, most are offered twice with the second session a repeat of the first session.  There are also sessions offered the whole time block of 10 am - 11:30 am.

On the registration form, please provide numbers of students for the classes. Please understand that classroom space is limited.  We have to take what free classroom space MU grants us around the current, Spring Semester classes. Due to popularity, some classes may be over capacity and some may not be full.  Since this is the case, when your students arrive at the classrooms, they may find that they have to sit on the floor or against the wall.  Inform your students that if the classroom is full, to come back to the second, repeated session. The students are not bound to the original registration submitted, they can move to another class if they desire.

Write Off and Photo Shoot Off do not have classroom size limits.  Pre-registration is required before the opening session and keynote speaker start at 8:45am.  That registration desk will be open when you arrive between 8 am and 8:45 am.

The General Write Off session is an onsite competition with multiple categories. For Write Off, as many students as you want to put in each category can compete from your school.  They write an article, cartoon, feature, review, editorial, etc. based on the morning keynote speaker's presentation. There is a time limit. Onsite judges will judge the entries. The winners are announced that afternoon.

The Photo Shoot Off session is also an onsite competition.  This competition is limited to 2 students per publication per school. They will take pictures that day on campus, submit them in the time frame provided onsite, and will be judged onsite. The other sessions are simply classes that your students can attend to learn more information. If the first section is full when your students arrive then they should go to another option and come back for the second, repeated session.  The classrooms are limited in size and seating, so tell your students to be flexible in their plans.
