Deadline for Lodging is January 9, 2008.

  • Lodging Reservation
Please note the early deadline for lodging registration.
To reserve lodging, submit your reservation by January 9, 2008 online through the hotel link at the meeting website. The listed prices include room, taxes, and meals from Wednesday night through Sunday breakfast. Per-person rates are as follows: single, $1,827.80; double, $1,395.22; triple, $1,251.00; quad, $1,178.81. Please note that we will have funds available to reimburse students, but the amount of the subsidy is not known at this time (see below for filing for Student Financial Aid). If you need to locate a roommate, please do so before submitting your lodging registration. A roommate link will be posted on the meeting web site.
  • Meeting Registration
To register for the meeting, register online using the Meeting Registration link on the Meeting website ( http://www.maizegdb.org/maize_meeting/2008/ ) by January 9, 2008. Alternatively, you may print the form from the website and mail or FAX it with your registration payment. There is a flat fee of $200 for advance registration for all attendees, except there is no registration fee for graduate or undergraduate students. The registration fee after the deadline is $250. We strongly encourage you to register in advance of the meeting, as pre-registration allows us to compile a list of attendees with their affiliations and pre-print nametags. You will receive a receipt by email or mail.

Meeting registration is handled through the University of Missouri Conference Office. The contact there is Angela Freemyer; she can be reached by phone at 1-573-882-4087, via receptionist at 1-866-682-6663, by FAX at 1-573-882-1953, or by email at muconf4@missouri.edu.

STUDENT FINANCIAL AID:
Deadline for applying is January 9, 2008.
We are soliciting federal grants and industry donations to partially cover room and meal costs for all graduate students and for those undergraduates who are the first author and presenter of a poster or talk. The subsidy will be applied to the cost of lodging and meals at the Marriott. You will be notified by email of the amount of the subsidy about two weeks prior to the meeting.
To apply, students must:

  1. Make a reservation at the Marriott (credit card will not be charged until checkout).
  2. Complete the online meeting registration form; be sure to indicate your student status and include the requested information about your advisor (do not include payment).
NO applications for student support received after January 9, 2008 will be considered, so please act promptly.

TALKS, POSTERS, ABSTRACTS:
Abstract submission deadline is January 9, 2008.
The meeting will include four featured speakers, approximately 30 short talks (15 minutes each), extended poster sessions and a workshop on translating basic research to breeding. The complete program will be posted at the meeting website prior to the meeting.

All abstracts must be submitted electronically via the WWW Abstract Form available from the meeting websi http://www.maizegdb.org/maize_meeting/2008/. Deadline for submission is January 9, 2008. Those who plan to be away at that time tending to winter crops should submit abstracts in advance.

Please indicate on the abstract form whether you wish to present a talk or a poster. Do not check both options. Time constraints on the meeting may mean that some authors who request oral presentations will be asked to present their data in poster format instead. Authors of abstracts selected for oral and poster presentations will be informed by email by January 20, 2008. Authors should check the meeting website to make sure that their abstracts are posted and contain no errors. If you have not received any information about your abstract, and it is not accessible on the web site by February 1, 2008, please contact Tom Brutnell by e-mail at tpb8@cornell.edu.
Each poster space is 48 x 48 inches, and authors are responsible for bringing their own tacks for hanging the poster.

EVENING RECEPTIONS
Attendees should plan on arriving on Wednesday evening. No meal is planned for Wednesday evening, but there are plenty of excellent restaurants in the area. We will have a reception in the poster area on Wednesday evening with light food and drinks. Breakfast and Lunch will be provided on Thursday, and a reception at the Smithsonian museum is planned for Thursday evening with light food.
