What you enjoy most about your job: The variety in types of events that you work with and the wide range of people you meet.
Tips/advice for other meeting planners or event hosts: Try not to stress over the little issues, save your energy for the big problems.
What life is like outside the office (hobbies/family): Amy is a Missouri native and 1997 Mizzou alum. She lives in Columbia with her husband, 2 cats and a dog. In her spare time, Amy enjoys home improvement projects and gardening.
Education/training: Bachelor of Science in Forestry with a minor in Geology from the University of Missouri Columbia
Angela Freemyer
Position/Title: Administrative Assistant
Number of Years with MUCO: 10 months
Number of years in the meeting planning industry: 10 months
What you enjoy most about your job: Working in a team oriented atmosphere.
Tips/advice for other meeting planners or event hosts: An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
What life is like outside the office (hobbies/family): Angela enjoys reading, watching movies, and spending time with friends, family, and her cat, Flash. In her spare time, she assists her husband, Jaren, with their business, Velocity CDs & Games, in downtown Moberly.
Education/training: B.S. and M.A. in Human Development & Family Studies from the University of Missouri Columbia.
Around the Office
The past few months have seen some changes in 344 Hearnes. Amy Jarvis Sheets was promoted from Conference Assistant to Conference Coordinator in July and Angela Freemyer was hired as Amys Administrative Assistant. Amy and Angela will be working on conferences such as Fire and Rescue Training Institutes Winter and Summer Fire Schools, Missouri Animal Control Association, and many others. Angela is a MU alumna and moved back to Missouri from Arkansas within the past year.
In August, Jamie Schieber and Cindy Hazelrigg were joined by new Administrative Assistants. Jamie Schieber and Kelly Benson will be working together this year on Pathways to Student Success, Missouri GIS, Write to Learn, Missouri Track and Cross Country Coaches Association, and ParentLink to name a few. Kelly joins us the College of Education's Region VII CRP-RCEP continuing education grant.
Cindy Hazelrigg and Nikki Myhra are working together on Cambio de Colores, Interface, Summer Media Workshop, Missouri Landscape and Nursery Association and many more. Nikki graduated this past summer with her Masters in Public Administration from the University of Missouri Columbia. Our office looks forward to working with our new staff. Welcome.
