| 34. | Dissecting Picture Books Keynote Speaker: Nina Laden Target Audience: Grades K-3 Join Nina for this session and take picture books apart (not literally, of course) to see what makes a great picture book work while others fall short. Have you ever dreamed of writing and/or illustrating a children’s book? Have you ever wondered how you get a picture book published? Come and hear the insights of someone who has “been there” and “done that.” (CA, FA) |

| 35. | Sketch and Stretch Writing Susan Kendrick, Trainer, Missouri Reading Initiative Target Audience: Grades K-3 Put some muscle into writing with a 10-day plan that is ready to take back to your classroom on Monday. This program fits within any curriculum, any classroom, and any writing level. Susan will model each step of the writing process, complete with read alouds, assessments, and connections to the GLEs. (CA, MRI) |

| 36. | The Revision Toolbox: Giving Our Kids the Tools Linda Azeez, Trainer, Missouri Reading Initiative Target Audience: Grades 2-3 Do your students resist revising their writing? If this is a problem in your classroom, come join Linda and discover what happens when we give our students a toolbox full of revision strategies. Just like builders, our students need specific tools to get the job done. Learn how you can put together “Revision Toolboxes” for your students based on the work of Georgia Heard. You will leave this session with strategies that will help your students understand revision and with lesson ideas to use on Monday morning. |
