| You already receive a wealth of information at Write to Learn, and the Idea Exchange is your opportunity to multiply the number of great teaching ideas you get to take home. To participate in the Idea Exchange, all you have to do is bring 175 copies of an activity or teaching technique involving the communication arts to the conference registration table no later than 9:15 a.m. on Friday to receive your ticket for admittance to the Idea Exchange. Please label your idea either “K-6” or “7-12.” Tickets are limited to the first 175 people for K-6 and the first 175 people for 7-12! A ticket is required for entry. You will then be allowed to pick up one copy of each participant’s idea on Friday at 1:00 p.m.
Your idea should be one that has been tested and has worked well in your classroom. Your idea must be no longer than a single page (front and back is OK) and should include your name, address, and other contact information such as a school phone number or e-mail address. Please identify the source(s) of your idea. Do not use ideas directly from textbooks or other teaching materials. Xeroxed or simply re-typed pages from such materials will not be accepted. |

You are invited to attend an open house at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday to find out about what the Missouri Association of Teachers of English (MATE) and the Missouri Writing Projects Network have to offer. You will learn about the wonderful publications that come with your modest MATE dues, and you will hear about the 2010 National Writing Project Invitational Institutes in your area. This session will also serve as a “reunion” for National Writing Project Consultants throughout the state. All are welcome! |
|
|
| You are also invited to attend a reception held by the Missouri Writing Projects Network for Missouri student writers who have been chosen as winners of the 2010 Scholastic Writing Awards Contest. The reception is open to all and will be held at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. | |

Exhibitors have once again generously donated door prizes to be given away at lunch on Friday and at breakfast on Saturday. As usual, you must be present to win! |

Presenters should bring more than enough handouts for everyone in their sessions. If you run out of handouts, the hotel does have a business center where you can make a limited number of additional copies at your own expense. |

Please do not smoke during Write to Learn meals and sessions. A designated smoking area is located outside the building at the shuttle pick-up site. Thank you for your cooperation. |

Please do not take cellular phones into pre-conference sessions, breakout sessions, or keynote presentations. Ringing phones are an unwelcome interruption for all concerned. There are numerous breaks in the conference schedule when you may make telephone calls. If you must carry a cell phone, please set it to “vibrate” and if you expect a call, sit near the door so that you may slip out unobtrusively. |
